Bootlegger Colombian Specialty Grade 100% Arabica Freeze-Dried Coffee

  • This is instant freeze-dried coffee that is sourced directly from Colombia using specialty grade 100% Arabica bean.
  • The process of freeze-drying coffee creates the best possible outcome for an instant coffee, preserving the coffees original flavour notes.
  • No preservatives or artificial flavours are added.
  • The taste - expect notes of chocolate and caramel with a mild acidity and a smooth balanced body.

 Bootlegger Cappuccino

  • The same premium freeze dried is used in the making of our Instant Cappuccino sachet a South African favourite. The added steps include:
  • Blending the freeze dried with a creamer base to achieve a balanced cappuccino taste.
  • When creating the formula, we tried to develop this around the key tasting notes of the Bootlegger blend
  • Chocolate /Biscuit/Caramel sweetness with a medium sweet acidity, rich body with a smooth well-rounded mouth feel.
  • Much less sweeteners were added compared to other brands staying true to allowing the freeze-dried coffee to take centre stage and be the star of the show.
  • A locally sourced milk frothing agent was used to simulate the microtextured creamy milk found in traditional cafe cappuccinos.

About the freeze-dried process

  • High-Quality Sourcing: Uses 100% Colombian Arabica beans, hand-picked and graded as specialty (80+ cupping score).
  • Careful Roasting: Roasted to highlight Colombia’s signature flavours (caramel, citrus, red fruits, chocolate).
  • Brewed Extract: Coffee is brewed into a concentrated liquid under controlled conditions.
  • Rapid Freezing: Liquid coffee is frozen at -50°C to -60°C to preserve flavour compounds.
  • Freeze-Drying (Sublimation): Ice is removed via sublimation in a vacuum, leaving dry coffee solids.
  • Granulation & Packaging: Freeze-dried coffee is broken into granules and sealed to maintain freshness.Instant Use: Final product dissolves quickly in hot water, retaining rich, specialty-grade flavours.
